This work is an homage to those squirreled away things. The things that are a little too good to get rid of, but really aren't nice at all. It's for those paper cups on the top shelf of the pantry from a birthday party long past. It's for when you asked for extra ketchup packets and they gave you five but you only needed two, so you took the rest home. Its for these unintentional collections, universally acquired.
Quinlyn Johnson, Thank You
Quinlyn Johnson is a Seattle based sculptor who received her BFA in 2019 from Cornish College of the Arts. Born in Colorado, Johnson grew up between Littleton, in the suburbs of Denver, and the small mountain town of Breckenridge.
Johnson’s sculpture explores the usefulness and value of everyday objects. Replicating low value domestic objects in wood, metal, concrete and other low craft and high craft materials, Johnson repurposes how the physical form of objects are used and understood.
In 2019 Johnson was the recipient of an Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award from the International Sculpture Center and was featured in Sculpture Magazine.
